Afraid to have vaginal ultrasoundFrom: Jan (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 30 Nov 2000 21:52:51 -0600 (CST)
I posted earlier about stress related to Hcg levels not rising rapidly post-IVF. I'm pleased to say that over Thanksgiving holiday, my Hcg levels went from 74 on 11-21-00 to 834 on 11-27-00 and then to 1634 on 11-29-00. So, I feel better about that. Now I am worried because my reproductive nurse has told me that they plan to do a vaginal ultrasound next Friday on 12-8-00. Because of sharp angle of uterus, my doctors often have a difficult time with examination, even needing to dilate sometimes. The doctor who has been performing my preliminary tests prior to IVF, as well as the IVF procedure is very rough, even with just inserting the speculum. She is rougher than any of my other doctors have ever been. I have mentioned this to my reproductive nurse, but to no avail. My fear is that now that I'm feeling reassured that I may have a viable pregnancy, something could go wrong with the vaginal ultrasound. I sure don't want to jar anything loose or cause any kind of trauma. I feel like I would just like to leave things alone for awhile. Fertilization was on 11-2-00 and transfer on 11-7-00, so the baby may not be that settled in yet. What is your opinion?
