nuchal fold thicknessFrom: TC (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 30 Nov 2000 19:12:03 -0600 (CST)
My wife and I are both 24 years old and expecting our first baby in march. We went for an utlrasound at 23 weeks it showed a nuchal fold thickness of 6.4mm our first ultrasound at 11 weeks didnt show this thickness. our doctor sent us to a paranatoligist they also prefromed an ultrasound and it got a measurement of 7mm and they told us that this could be a marker for down syndrome, but they were unable to find any other markers such as abnormal femer length or stomach and heart defects everything was excellent, exept for the thickness. we have no family history of any genetic birth defects. we are pretty worried... sould we be? has anyone else been in a simalar situation? and if so what was the outcome?
