Just how old is this embryo anyway??

According to my LMP I am 9 weeks, 4 days pregnant.

According to my ultrasound measurements, I am 8 weeks 5 days pregnant.

Here's the confusing part: the ultrasound age CANNOT be the same as the gestational age, right? Because that would mean I was pregnant about a week BEFORE I even ovulated.

So what is the significance of the 8w5d? It isn't menstrual age, and it isn't gestational age either.

Just how old is this embryo anyway??
