Abnormal menstruation this month

I don't take much notice of my cycle and I am not on the pill, the last month seemed to be 21 days. This menstruation seems a little strange, I usually have approximately 5 days bleeding with the first day being light, the 2nd to 4th day being heavier and the last day light again but this one has been different, it has been very light with a bright red colour and light enough that I didn't need to use tampons. I always knew previously when I was pregnant due to sore breasts but I don't have them now. Can anyone give advice as to what may be going on!

Since the above post I am still bleeding 10 days later which is most unusual, I have never gone this long, always no longer than 5 days. While it was previously light bleeding today it started reasonably heavy but still bright red. I went to my doctor who has no idea why! Can you assist me any further?
