Everyone experiences different types of pain. For me the first few
hours of labor are like period cramps. with my second daughter, I
didn't wake up until I was in transition, almost fully dilated, and I am
a very light sleeper. But with #1 and #3, I was able to have an
epidural at around 7 cm. Probably could have waited longer, but like
you, I get panicky!!! I guess it's not too bad, since I am onto #4 (all
girls!!!). Good luck with your pregnancy.
