I heard and I don't know if it's true but they can give you an epidural at 2 cm if you demand it. I think they try to make you hold out but if it's needed they can do it. Hopefully one of the doctors will respond. I wasn't planning on waiting until 5 cm if I was in alot of pain. I'm also terrified of the pain. My sister in law had an epidural and she said it was great. She said the worst part of giving birth was getting an enema. The rest was a breeze. I'm just hoping for a similar experience.
