I'm a La Leche League leader applicant and I want you to know that there is a lot of information on breastfeeding from LLL. They have a websight at lalecheleague.org.

I personally believe that there is no reason to introduce a bottle unless the mom is going back to work or wants to be able to leave the baby with a sitter before the baby is taking solids (my 23 month old never took a bottle). That said, it is not a good idea to introduce a bottle until breastfeeding is well established lest it cause nipple confusion. (usually about 6 weeks is good) There is nothing wrong with feeding the baby from the breast only and there is nothing wrong with doing a combination of breast and bottle feeding. Also, there is nothing wrong with exclusively formula feeding. It's up to you how you want to do it!
