At 5 weeks old, my son was hospitalized for sever mastitis. He almost had to have surgery because an abcess was forming. Luckily a few days of antibiotics did the trick, but it was very scary. None of the residents and/young doctors had ever seen it. My pediatrician said that he sees one or two cases a year. She needs antibiotics. Make sure she sees a doctor soon
