Help re: questions for induction of laborFrom: Ann (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 20 Nov 2000 13:09:44 -0600 (CST)
Hi. I am now at 41 weeks and they have scheduled me to go into the hospital for induction tomorrow. I feel like a fool for not asking a million questions about this all but I didn't. Now when I read back over the old posts regarding induction of labor I am really terrified of this whole procedure. I have been at 80% effaced and 2cm dilated for over 2 and a half weeks. The baby looked to be around 9lbs according to the sonographer althought the doc says he doesn't think he will be that big and I personally feel he is bigger. The head is very very low. I don't know why I haven't had any signs of labor really. Maybe a few contractions (Braxton-Hicks) but I am not even sure about that. I also haven't had much in the way of vaginal discharge that would indicate any changes short of a little bit of mucuous after a very long walking session (I was hoping to encourage labor onset.) Should I not go ahead with the induction? Is it a bad thing. I think the plan was to "break the water" and then I was going to see if anything happened and then get pitocin. I just want to know what the MDs and others think about this as I am ABSOLUTELY TERRFIED!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks in advance.
