possible miscarriage and negative HPT or hormonal imbalance? From: anon (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 16 Nov 2000 12:15:35 -0600 (CST)
we have been trying for a baby for seven months now without success. I have irregular periods but more so now that i am trying to concieve! My cycle used to be 5-6 weeks and every three or four months i tend to miss a cycle. Around ovulation i tend to experience sharp pains in my right lower side around where i guess my right ovary is situated. It lasts for a few days then stops but near when my period is due it starts again for a couple more days. My last menstrual cycle lasted 8 weeks. On week 3 i experienced what i believed was my ovulation pain. On week 4 i noticed that my left breast became very veiny and more prominant although my right breast had only a few veins. Both breasts became very sore and my nipples were very tender and 'pointed'and i felt some 'pricking sensations'in my nipples. I did a HPT just after week 4 and it was negative. My breasts became swollen and even my husband commented on how big they had become! On week 5 another HPT but negative. But I was convinced that i was pregant! I started to have frequency of micturition particularly at night and had two days where i felt nauseaus with one morning of sickness (week 6). I started to get tired easily and my right breast developed more veins. I continued to take HPT every three days during week 5-7 and all were negative. From week 3 onwards i would get some discomfort and pain around my right ovary where it would last a couple of days then go then come back again. By the end of week 7 i still had all the common pregancy symptoms.BUt by week 8 my period started which started with thick brown mucus with clots then it became red in colour, fairly heavy with more clots and lasted 7 days.I only had mild cramps. Could i have been pregnant and had a miscarriage despite negative HPT's or could it be an inbalance of hormones? I am currently waiting for blood results for hormone levels.
