Refusing treatment for pre-term labor?From: Lauren (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 31 Oct 2000 19:59:28 -0600 (CST)
I'm 20 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with placenta previa at 18 weeks after a moderate bleed. This is an unwanted pregnancy but I did not consider abortion because of my religion. I have two children at home and it is very difficult to comply with the bedrest that my doctors have ordered to treat the placenta previa. I have had mild contractions for the past two weeks, and my doctors have said that if they get worse, I'll have to be hospitalized and treated with tocolitics (sp?) to try to keep the pregnancy going. What will happen if I refuse treatment? Can I let nature take it's course and end this pregnancy?
