progesterone and pregnancyFrom: Lena (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 31 Oct 2000 17:03:49 -0600 (CST)
I am 7 1/2 weeks pregnant and on progesterone suppositories - 50 mg twice a day. My doctor checked my progesterone level yesterday and it was 18. He told me to double my dose and use 200 mg per day. Do low progesterone levels indicate a problem with the fetus or is it just a problem with my hormones? I had an ultrasound and 6 1/2 weeks and was able to see fetal heart beat, which was 141 BPM. Is it possible that additional medication does not increase my progesterone to the safe level? I am really worried (had 2 miscarriages and one healthy pregnancy in the past, took progesterone with my healthy pregnancy, but at lower dosage). Appreciate your answers.
