Bacterial Infection Causing Problems Trying To Conceive? From: Carter (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Oct 2000 19:41:13 -0600 (CST)
I went to the doctor this past Friday to have a repeat pap done and when inserting the metal thing(forgot what it is called)it hurt very bad so she(my dr.)had to use the smallest one she had. She found that I had a bad bacterial infection and gave me and my hubby antibiotics to treat it. The only symptom I had was very painful intercourse, which has been that way for the past four months. She didn't find the infection in July when I had a pap done but I had painful intercourse then also. We have been trying to conceive our first child together(he has two children and I have none)for the past three months. I stopped my birth control pill three months ago. Could this infection cause problems conceiving and could this explain the trouble we've had(other than just coming off the pill)? And after treating it can it possibly improve our chances? Thanks!
