he AFP is one of the three tests that are used to screen for Dwn Syndrome. There's also the HCG and estriol. It is the ratio that is used to calculate the risk of a Downs baby. If the US looked good, there is a very good liklihood your baby is normal. Low AFP by itself is not really a significant finding.
