I usually tell patients they can leave off the backup method after starting in on the second package of pills. Seven days is probably OK, but with some of the newer low dose pills, I don't feel as comfortable telling patients this. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome caused by pregnancy edema usually goes away in 2-3 weeks. RDB
