14 weeks and itching all over!!!From: Melissa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 26 Oct 2000 17:13:43 -0500 (CDT)
I am 14 weeks along in pregnancy and for the past two weeks or so I have been pretty itchy all over my body especially the inside of my thighs and upper arms. I don't have any rash or hives associated with the itching at all. I looked up itching in the pregnancy books I have and they say that some itching is normal so I kind of blew it off. Well, out of curiousity I did some further research on the web and found that this could be a sign of "interhepatic cholestasis of pregnancy". It did say that it generally begins in the thirt trimester but can occur sooner. I was just wondering if this is something I should call my OB about now or can it wait until my next appointment with him in a week? What are the chances that I have this occuring? It says it is pretty rare, but in Sweden it has been reported to be up to 14% of pregnancies with the diagnosis. I am of Swedish heritage if that makes a difference. Kind of scared,
