Heather,

I have the very same symptoms. I was diagnosed with Leutal Phase Defect 2 1/2 years ago. After searching for a result with my regular OB/GYN, and then and infertility specialist, I received a final diagnosis with the help of an endrometrium biopsy. (Excuse the spelling). This test demonstrated that even though I was on day 22 of my cycle, my lining was only as if it was day 16. I would spot for several days before my period because my Projesterone levels were too low to sustain the lining. TREATMENT: Clomid. The clomid accentuated my ovulation hormones, which resulted in a "Normal" period. On my second cycle of Clomid, I conceived my son who is 2. I have just stared on Clomid again and hope to be pregnant soon.

When you take Clomid you have to start on a certain day of your cycle, based on when you start your period. I never knew when that was because of the spotting, so my doctor described Day 1 is the first day of "free flow". So bright red.

I hope this is helpful to you.
