At age 37, the risk of having a baby with Down syndrome is 1:242 and for any chromosomal abnormality it is 1:122. Family history does not factor into this. Pregnancy after 35 has other considerations as well, but in general, a healthy 35+ year old can expect a smooth course.

BTW, I had my first (and so far only, and likely to stay that way!) child at age 38 and she is perfectly wonderful and healthy.
