Postpartum Bleeding w/IntercourseFrom: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 21 Oct 2000 22:31:33 -0500 (CDT)
I'm 30 years old and delivered my second child vaginally a little over three months ago. I had very little tearing (only a stitch) and very easy, fast labor. I initially stopped bleeding postpartum at around 4-5 weeks and then had what a think was a period (I am currently taking oral contraceptives). I had a postpartum check at 8 weeks and was told all was well. However, my question is that over the past two cycles, every time my husband and I have had intercourse, it starts a cycle of bleeding, atleast a week long, as heavy a period. Then it stops for a day or so, and I get my regular period, regardless of where I am supposed to be in my cycle with my pills. Is this normal? Shouldn't the pill be regulating bleeding more? Could there be something left (like placenta) from childbirth that is starting bleeding again from intercourse? This didn't happen with my first child. Please advise.
