25 weeks and severe bleedingFrom: Kimberly (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 18 Oct 2000 17:20:46 -0500 (CDT)
I first started bleeding @ 17 weeks. The blood is usually bright red and thin, but if it darkens at all it is accompanied with huge tennis ball size clots. Nothing but blood pockets and clots were found on U/S. Throughout the weeks, it has only gotten worst and now is accompanied by severe cramping throughout the pelvic area, which has lasted for about the last 2 weeks. I have been told that they are definitely contractions, but they are not making any changes to the cervix...YET!!! I am on bedrest, but nothing seems to help. My dr. has referred me to a high-risk specialist and a perinatologist. No one seems to have any answers. I have asked about abruption and seperation but after 18 U/S, they still don't see anything except huge spots of blood throughout the entire placenta. My question is, do I stand a chance in making it through at least 32 weeks??? I am scared to death because of the pain level associated with this, that if I did go into true pre-term labor, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Or what if it does turn out to be an abruption and I loose the baby before it is detected. I don't know what other questions ot ask my team of doctors, but they have yet to give me straight answers on this.
-- Thanks, Kimberly
