Thinning Cervix?? and questions about it....

what it is is a sharp but short pain (kind of a twinge really) low and central ...it happens quite recently and has been for about the last 4 or so days....

my questions are these...i cant find anything about this on the net so i decided to ask here

what i have read indicates that it happens either right beofre or during labour...how soon before labour does one have this generally? are there other symptoms? (i have been getting more discharge lately - not mucous i dont think (not gummy or globby) is this a sign that maybe i wont have to have a section??
