The pregnancy produces HCG the HCG does not support the pregnancy. The only real value that I am aware of for Progesterone in the first trimester is to follow a patient who has proven Inadequate luteal phase or to try to rule in or out an ectopic pregnancy At 4-6 weeks if the progesterone is aboe 25, it is not a tubal pregnancy, if it is below 5, it likely is an ectopic pregnancy. In between it could be either. I could be and hope that I am wrong, but the most likely outcome based on those HCG levels is a miscarriage. Your Ultrasound should tell. If it has not grown, it is not a normal pregnancy. RDB
