Tissue from miscarriage--should it be tested?From: CB (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 27 Sep 2000 10:47:56 -0500 (CDT)
I had three live births. Then I miscarried in August @8wks. On ultrasound(right before miscarriage), baby measured about 5 1/2 wks. I got pregnant again right away and am now miscarrying again(I'm about 6wks). Dr. says this one is a blighted ovum. She does not plan on doing testing of any kind (since it's only my 2nd miscarriage. This morning, I passed some grayish tissue (diameter about that of a nickel). I put it in freezer and left message for Dr to ask if she wants it (to test). I don't know what her answer will be, but I'm wondering... Do I encourage her to please test it? Are ther any other tests I should ask her for? Is it out of line for me to ask for a copy of the ultrasound report? (I just want to understand this better). By the way, she is not an OB but has worked in OB in the past. I'm pretty sure that she will send me to OB right from the start with my next pregnancy.
