How much tissue to be expected in early miscarriage? From: Dana (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 25 Sep 2000 13:03:13 -0500 (CDT)
Thank you in advance for reading my post I had first m/c (missed) in July at 10.5 weeks, babies heart had stopped beating at 8.5 had d&c. In August started bleeding around time I expected my first period, bled for 17 days, after 10 days I went to the doctor had blood draw and hcg level was at 330. Found out this was another m/c. At my follow-up doctor said there was residual tissue left in my uterus, and my level was still at 220, this was a week after first blood draw. Doctor said I could wait to see if it came out with my next period. Had another follow-up 2 weeks later and level was still 199. Doctor said I could wait again to see if I got my period. Found out later that he never expected me to get my period and thought that in the end I would need another d&c. I started bleeding later that week on Thurday the 21st of September. It was light just gushes once in a while, but not alot. On Saturday night I had 2 chunks of tissue come out, not big about 1/2 inch in length. Sunday I started bleeding heavier and had some more small pieces of tissue (smaller than the first) come out mixed with the blood. I am still bleeding farely heavy today (monday). My question is how much tissue should I expect to see in an early m/c? I am still a little concerned that this could be residual tissue from my first m/c, and they missed it in the US they did a few days after (have talked to women this has happened to). I am worried that if this is from the first m/c that there may be scarring. The other women told me they had no signs of infection, and I haven't had any signs either. I have another appt. at the end of the week to follow-up and if the tissue isn't all out I'll have another d&c. Any inpute would be appreciated. Thank you for reading this incredibly long post.
