A bit worried

I don't kow if you remember my earlier post about losing mucus plugs and BH contractions etc.... but I have a bit more to share and ask for a bit of advice or feedback.

I am 31 weeks pregnant. Almost every day for the last two-three weeks I have been losing large mucus plugs and having BH contractions, some of which bring me to tears or have me stop in my tracks. I had an OB app. on Wednesday and lo and behold, I woke up Wed feeling fantastic - I even considered a run on the beach - no pain all day, no mucus lost - nothing. So I went to the Dr and told him all about eveything - he did an ultra sound and said the baby is very low, but not *quite* engaged - everything looked good. He then did a very *thorough* internal and said that I am not dilated, but softening, and laughed and said I should keep my legs crossed!! (Very light hearted). I am in no hurry to have my baby and have a LOT on my plate for the next 8 weeks or so .. matron on honour in a wedding - a house to finish building, a job to train someone to take over - and am just a bit concerned that I may be falling into a pattern to "go early" - Every day when I turn up to work, my collegues say - "I didn't think you'd be back today - you look like you're going to have it any minute."

Another concern is that my first Labour was 5 hours from complete start to finish and not extreemly painful (sorry!) some contractions I have now feel almost as bad as those labour ones.... and I live 1 hour from the hospital... if I just ignore all this that is going on I worry that I might get caught short.

Paranoid? I just don't know.
