Mucus Plug and crampingFrom: aj (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 7 Sep 2000 10:13:44 -0500 (CDT)
I think I lost my mucus plug (or part of it) this morning. It looked like a ribbon and was about 3-4 inches long and very white/stringy. There was no bloody tinge to it like my first pregnancy. Does this sound like it? Also, I have been having menstrual like cramping and basically feel as though my period is due. Do I consider these feelings contractions? I don't feel my tummy tighten like I usually do. I have no experience with spontaneous labor since my first and only son ( he is 13 years old) had to be induced at 42 weeks. With the first baby, my mucus plug didn't come out until I was in labor, but I read other women lose it weeks before labor. When I had my 39 week appointment on tues, I was 1.5 - 2 cm dialated and 50% effaced. Could this be the beginning of labor for me? I'm sure I sound anxious....I AM! Thanks! :-)
