Re: Serious Weight Gain-get a cup of coffee and put your feet up-this one is long. From: Anita (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 3 Sep 2000 22:51:32 -0500 (CDT)
Tell me about it!! Your story sounds very much like mine, although I did not lose any weight in the first trimester. I am currently 30 weeks pregnant and have put on 61lb since I found out I was pregnant. I have been exercising regularly, eating normaly and healthy and have not blown up with fluid. I am normally about 145lb too. If you think that sounds bad with my first born I put on 90+lb. I was like an elephant. When he was born he was hypocalcimic (SP?) which means he had a calcium deficiency which is often related to mothers with Thyroid conditions or Gestational Diabetes which would also explain the weight gain, so this time my doctor ordered many extra tests to check my thyroid and diabetes status, but so far, nothing has shown up. I know this does not answer your questions, but at least you know you are not the only one it is happening to. I get all the "are you sure it's not twins" and "gee, you look like you're about to pop any minute" and at 16 weeks "not long to go now then?!" and it is not much fun, but I did lose it all with the last one (it took me two years) and I must admit that it IS all worth it in the end. And you will have a great excuse if you need time out to go to the gym and let daddy take the reigns for a while, while you vent some frustration in a Body Combat class!
