Stripping membranes has been reported to decrease the incidence of post dates pregnancy. It is not good ot do if GBBS is present.Breaking the bag of water at term will have approximately 85% in labor within 24 hours, but not all and then there is an increased risk for infection. Induction tends to be more painful because it is trying to do in a few hours or dyas what Mother Nature does in weeks.
