My sister just found out she was pregnant this month after 5 years of trying and finally induring invetro fertilization. Yesterday,at 6 1/2 of pregnancy, she was given a vaginal ultrasound. No fetal heartbeat could be heard. Her fertility doctor told her that "They like to hear a heartbeat by that point", and that she should come back for another ultrasound in about a week. He also told her to avoid eating prior to the next visit in case a DNC is necessary.

My sister was totally devistated at hearing the doctor's words. What are the odds that the baby is okay?
