There are two methods for managing this bacteria. One is screening all pregnant women between 35-37 weeks and treating all positive women with antibiotics during labor. The other method is based upon 4 "risk factors" which are premature rupture of membranes, membranes ruptured for more than 18 hours during labor, previous complications due to Group B strep, and a fever during labor.

Both of these methods are accepted by the Center for Disease Control, and OB/GYNs all differ in their chosen protocal.

Ask your OB at your next visit, and if he does not screen for it and it is something you are concerned about, he will most likely do a screen just to put your mind at ease.
