7.4 weeks preg w/heartbeat but uterus full of blood and clotsFrom: Melinda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 28 Aug 2000 20:07:12 -0500 (CDT)
Here's my question first---what's causing blood in my uterus and will this threaten my pregnancy? This is my second pregnancy. (First baby, now 16 mos, conceived with Follistim.)Today's ultrasound measured CRL at 7.4 weeks (expected 7.6 weeks--close enough!). There was a heartbeat but doctor pointed out a *pool* of blood (I'm guessing about 25 mm diameter) and pointed out blood clots and more blood throughout uterus. He thinks the pool was a placenta and I'm miscarrying that one. But, I disagree. BTW, I am having no miscarriage symptoms. Here's my quick history. Fertility treatment cycle: 100mg Clomid resulted in one 20mm follicle and timed HCG. No IUI. (We didn't expect this cycle to work with Clomid. First try since birth of daughter.) 100mg progesterone suppository once/day. HCG Levels reported in days past ovulation: Day 14--68 Day 16--135 (48.5 hours doubling) Day 18--224 (66.3 hours doubling) Day 21--551 (55.2 hours doubling) Day 25--2,148 (48.9 hours doubling) Since I had only one follicle and basically low-to-average HCG levels, I don't believe the blood was a placenta. Has anyone experienced this? What was the cause? What was your outcome? Does it threaten my viable pregnancy? Medical expertise definitely welcome! Thank you in advance for your help!
