Subchorionic Bleeding - Please HelpFrom: ABD (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 28 Aug 2000 17:37:41 -0500 (CDT)
I am 16 weeks pregnant and have experienced bleeding (brown or dark red with no cramping)on and off for 4 weeks. My OB says I have a subchorionic hematoma (bloodclot evident on us). I have been on modified bedrest since the first bleeding episode. I have also had three ultrasounds and they all show a heartbeat. When Conducting a search through old messages on this condition, I found that two of the doctors say that the miscarriage rate with subchorionic bleeding is 20%. Does this rate go down, as with uncomplicated pregnancies, the further one gets? At 16 weeks, do I still have a 20% miscarriage risk? What about 20 weeks? Is there any point that I can stop worrying? Is this the same thing as a placenta abruption? Also, my doctor says that in most cases this will correct itself and I have a very good chance of having a healthy baby. Is this your experience? Thank you for your time and help.
