Broken Foot and DeliveryFrom: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 25 Aug 2000 18:50:49 -0500 (CDT)
I have posted many times before with various ailments (Lupus, pyleonephritis, gestational diabetes, etc.) and my luck seems to be getting worse by the day. I broke my foot on Monday night (5th metatarsal) and have a 3rd degree sprained ankle. They did not cast my foot because neither I nor the docs thought that delivering in a cast would be a good thing. My question: How much do you need your feet during labor and delivery? What kind of hardship will having a broken foot be? Has anyone ever done this Or have any docs ever delivered someone with a broken foot? I am only 35 weeks, but with my Lupus, creeping blood pressure, gestational diabetes and early dilating my doctors are anticipating/planning that this little guy will probably come within the next two weeks. Thank you in advance for your help--I really appreciate the advice I've gotten so far.
