I suspect that your doctor has given you his/her first available routine new OB visit, which implies that this practice is either extremely busy, or has been artificially limited for some reason (part time practice or something). Either way, I would be concerned. The rule in our practice is that all new OBs are seen by a nurse within 1 week of the first phone call, and by the doctor within 2 weeks. The longest that we go between visits is 4 weeks. The problem is that this may reflect your area of residence. No patient is going to like this, and if they have somewhere else to go, many of them will. The fact that this practice feels that they can do this suggests that there is not too much in the way of alternatives, either because there are too few other providers, or because all the local providers do the same thing.
