MaryJ Most of the time this kind of pain is associated with the uterus becoming larger and forcing the abdominal contents, including the liver, further up under your ribs. With time, this causes significant soreness in the upper abdomen and lower chest. There are certainly other things that can cause discomfort in this area, but they are much less common... Lynn
