Hello, I was 18 weeks when i had a miscarriage. I had 2 bouts of bleeding early in my pregnancy. We did IVF due to infertility. The day before my miscarriage, i went into the hospital due to horrible cramping in my lower left abdomen. They ran test, did ultrasound, saw heartbeat and movement and baby was fine. Hospital sent me home saying they thought it was just my fibroids giving me pain. At that time i was hooked to a strap around my belly which did not pick up any contractions. The next day was just terrible. Cramping got extremely worse, called MD right away because my water broke and a was bleeding so very much. Got to hospital and did ultrasound and we were told the horrible news, there was no heartbeat and we lost the baby..... As far as anything else they could have done....i feel my doctors did keep a close eye on me throughout the pregnancy....I had numerous checkups, blook work, ultrasounds too. After the loss, they still dont 100% know the reason we lost our son. Chromosome levels were fine, blood work fine, they did a Protime test which tested my blood clotting ability re: antibodies. Everything fine. They think possibly was placenta abruption..but why we don't know. Just know this, we attended a support group and many many couples did not know the reason for their loss. And that certainly does not make it any easier. If anything through this whole ordeal, i have learned to ask alot more questions and read read read!!! Knowledge is power. I am very sorry for your loss and wish you much luck with your future. Please respond.
