PIH: Advice & Maybe Reassurance if possibleFrom: Ann-Marie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 8 Aug 2000 15:25:37 -0500 (CDT)
I am now 35 weeks and 2 days pregnant. Yesterday at my 35 week checkup my bp was 160/72. For the last 4 weeks or so it has been elevated from early pregnancy values of 120/60 or 120/70 to about 140/80. Two weeks ago at after an ultrasound/stress test it was measured at 160/90 & eventually came down. I was sent to Triage and they did kidney/liver tests which were normal. I have been having contractions and I am 50% effaced and "a good one cm" dilated. I have been having contractions since 34 1/2 weeks which my ob decided not to stop. Baby is estimated to weigh 6lbs. 10oz. I am supposed to return tomorrow for another bp check and urine for protein. If not o.k. he will redo liver/kidney tests. If o.k. I am to go for u/s and stress test next Monday at hospital. My ob said that he would like to see me get to 36 weeks [this Sunday] just to be absolutely sure no problems with baby "but maybe nature will take its course this week" Finally, question, what if liver/kidney tests are wrong? Would I then be induced on that day? Would it have to be c-section? What if I don't go into labor this week, I get to Monday and bp is still high but all blood work is o.k. Would I still be likely to be induced? As you can see I am very anxious about: 1) pre-eclampsia getting worse 2) having to be induced 3) having to have a c-section Whew, Ann-Marie
