Re: Managing GERD while pregnant

Hi Dawn, I am not a doctor, but have severe GERD that has lead to hyperemisis (throwing up 30+ times a day). I see a high risk OB who has assured me that Tums, Gaviscon and Zantac are all safe to use in pregnancy. The advantage of the tums is the extra calcium it gives you, but if Zantac works better, by all means stick with that.

I know how horrible it is to try to control Reflux during pregnancy. I take 30 mg of Prevacid twice daily and 40 mg of Pepcid at bed time plus 1 gram of Carafate four times a day. It is this combo of drugs that is finally working for me. I hope the Zantac keeps working for you!
