At the risk of causing a rift - I don't feel this is appropriate. There are many issues with being pregnant, and the earlier these are addressed, the better. There are medical issues, things like smoking, medications, alcohol use.... that need to be discussed early on. Most of the critical formation occurs in the first 8 weeks. If you can talk with the doc, do so. Maybe he/she doesn't know this delay is going on, but it seems unlikely. If you can't get speak with him/her or this is in fact the policy, think about finding a more approachable doc and practice. And, oh yes - congratulations!
