PIH -- Appropriate TreatmentFrom: Ann-Marie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 29 Jul 2000 15:25:21 -0500 (CDT)
I am currently 34 weeks pregnant. I am going for biweekly ultrasounds to check for fetal growth since I have elevated antiphospholipids. At my last ob appointment on Monday my first blood pressure was 158/90 but after two or three tries it was back to 140/80 which my ob told me it had been several times in the past. He seemed relieved that there wasn't a problem. Anyway, on Wednesday of this week, I went to the hospital for the u/s and stress test. Everything was fine and then they took my bp and it was 160/90. I was sent to Triage for a few hours and my lab results for liver/kidney came back fine. Eventually my bp came down to about 130/80. The only change now is that I have to go once a week for the u/s and stress test. I did a search of PIH and it said that you should be going for twice a week bp checks also. I am worried but I also want to note that I am being treated at Beth Israael in Boston, MA and seeing the head of Maternal-Fetal medicine for the u/s and then my regular ob for checkups. I am next scheduled for my ob appointment over a week away. Is this o.k., getting anxious in Boston. Also, does this mean that I will end up with pre-eclampsia?
