Almost constant spotting at 17 weeksFrom: Michele (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 27 Jul 2000 12:14:44 -0500 (CDT)
I am almost 17 weeks along, and have been having almost constant spotting (dark red/brown) for a week and a half now. I had some light implantation bleeding at 5 weeks also. I have had 3 sonograms now, one just last week. My Dr. says that my uterus has moved up to where it's supposed to be, and my cervix is thick. Pap smear has always been normal. The baby's heartbeat has always been 154 BPM. He says that everything is fine with the baby, but the cells that normally are inside the cervical canal are completely covering my cervix. He says that this is fairly common and that the bleeding is from irritation to my cervix. I have been on mostly bedrest, but it doesn't seem to help. No matter what I do, I am spotting most of the time. I am mostly OK with the Dr.s answers, but my husband is driving me crazy with worry. We have a vacation scheduled for next month and I still want to go. My questions are these: will this ever get better? How long can this last? Is there anything that can be done? Thank you! Michele
