acne medicationFrom: Ganna (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 27 Jul 2000 10:26:53 -0400
Hi! I am 7 weeks pregnant and I developed severe acne on my face and on my entire back. My doctor prescribed this medications: Azelex Cream, Brevoxyl gel 4%, Akne-mycyn ointment 2% and erytromicin stearate. But I do not know, can I really use them, because I read that some acne medication can cause birth defects. The doctor said, it is safe, but pharmacist said, that there is no information about using this drugs during pregnancy. I do not know, what is worse for the baby - constant infection on my skin or the medications. Can you help me? Ganna.
