Very Unusual Situation! Twins - prolapsed cord - prom - heartbeatsFrom: Terri (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 25 Jul 2000 16:14:46 -0500 (CDT)
My daughter-in-law is pregnant with twins. At 21 wks, the amniotic sac ruptured with Twin A. She was put into hospital on complete bedrest. Nothing happened until 10 days later when the cord prolapsed on same baby. Dr's said she would deliver within 24 hrs and began preparation to attempt the following: stop contractions with medication and stitch the cervix, hoping that Twin B could be carried longer. It has now been 4 days, no more contractions and both Twin A and Twin B heartbeats have been 140+ the entire time. It seems no one has seen this situation before. Does anyone know of a similar situation? What was the outcome?
