9 MONTHS VS. 40 WEEKS

I am sorry if this shows up twice. I posted it earlier today but it did not show up then so I am reposting. :-)

My husband and I are curious why people used to say that a pregnancy took 9 months but now it is discussed in weeks, 40, which ends up being 10 months. Where did this other month come from?

Thanks!
