Quicker Labor with second?From: Amanda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 14 Jul 2000 00:49:22 -0500 (CDT)
I'm currently 35 weeks pregnant with my second baby. My first was induced 9 days past my due date. Since I'm not sure how to time labor on inducement (I didn't have painful contractions for very long), I'm not sure how long to say my labor was. I was induced using Pitocin, which started painless contractions. My OB broke my water about 3-4 hours later, which set off the major painful ones. Four and a half hours after that, I had my daughter. I figure that my total labor wasn't more than 8 hours. My question...even though I was induced last time, will my labor go quickly this time also? Could it be shorter than my first if I go on my own? My OB says that he doesn't want me going past my due date, so I may be induced anyway. I'm just curious as to how long labor might be this time. I've always heard that subsequent labors go faster than the first. -Amanda
