I'm 6 weeks pregnant and am suffering tremendously from hemorrhoids. I have made an appt to see a surgeon to discuss various techniques for removal.

I was told that I could be given Tylenol 3 for the pain after the treatment -- i.e., laser surgery, banding, etc. I've read many sources on the Internet that say, while there have been no comprehensive studies on the effects of codeine on the fetus, that it can cause organ defects and breathing problems upon birth.

Would one of the doctors please give me the straight story on this? I'm in agony, but I will not risk my baby's health.
