diagnosed missed abortion... questionsFrom: Ann (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 1 Jul 2000 09:06:48 -0500 (CDT)
Hi, I was here about two weeks ago and posted a message concerned about my OB sending me for an ultrasound because of measuring small for dates. I had the u/s on Thursday and they located a 6.5 wk sac with no fetal pole or yolk sac. (I should be 11 wks by LMP) Friday I had a consultation with a covering hospital OB (my regular OB left for vacation the day following my first prenatal appt). He has diagnosed a missed abortion. I had a quant done on Friday and am supposed to have another done early Monday morning as this covering OB has scheduled a D&C for late Monday morning. Last night I started having mild cramps (of the type I usually would get just prior to starting AF) and mild but constant low back ache. This morning I found I had started bleeding, its red with a milky whitish/pinkish to it, pretty much as I remember my postpartum bleeding looking. I have an incredible amount of distrust concerning the covering OB because my OB was on vacation at the end of my last pregnancy and the covering OB (same dr) was pushing me to let him induce the entire time my OB was away. (I hadn't even reached my EDD yet at the time and was having no complications). What I am wondering is will it cause me any harm to not have the D&C and to let my body expel what it will.. and to just have a follow up with my regular OB when he returns on 7/10? Or is it advisable to go ahead with the D&C even tho I have started to miscarry on my own?
