CBC and Differential and Urine test - Concerned - could high results effect pregnancy? From: dawn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 30 Jun 2000 03:14:44 -0500 (CDT)
Well, I'm back again with a few questions. I got the report from the ER when I was there on June 7th with the chance of an ectopic but found out everything was fine. My complete medical records were mailed to me by my request and I received them yesterday and was reviewing them. I had a few questions and was wondering if someone could explain them to me. I'm now 11 weeks pregnant. 1. The ER did a CBC and Differential on me and everything came out normal(WBW, RBC,HGB, HCT,MCV,MCH,MCHC,RDW and the platelet count) and everything was in normal range on the Differential (Neutrophil, Lymphs, Monocyte,Eosinophil,Basophil, lynphs absolute, monos absolute, eosin absolute, and baso absolute) except for the Neutrophil absolute which came back High. What does this mean and is this anything to be concerned with? 2. I was told at the ER that I had a urinary infection but that they wouldn't give me anything for it since Im pregnant. I was looking at my records on the urine test and a few things caught my eye and I wanted to know how bad this is.. Everything on the Urine-Physical/Chemical came out within normal range except for the ketones which should be negative and I have 3+. Also blood in the urine is supposed to be negative and mine came back 1+. Is blood in the urine something to be concerned about or is that normal for UTIs? On the Urine-Microscopic part the RBC/HPF is in range but where it says "Squamous/LPF" is shows me as Rare and the normal range should be 1+. What the heck does that mean?? The bateria/HPF for me showed as 1+ and normal for that says Rare. What the heck does that mean also? The mucous level was 1+ in my urine and the normal range says Rare. Is my urine really abnormal with a lot of infection or is this common with a UTI? Should I be concerned? Chart (since what I wrote might be confusing) Urine-Physical/Chemical Normal Range - Ketones 3+ NEG - Blood 1+ NEG Urine-Microscopic - WBC/HPF 2-5 0-2 - Squamous/LPF RARE 1+ - Bacteria/HPF 1+ RARE - Mucus 1+ RARE Somebody please explain this to me.. I'm concerned about the blood found in urine and what's up with the rare stuff? I appreciate it! I'm going crazy wondering if this is normal or not or maybe I'm just over-reacting and that this IS normal for a urinary tract infection. dawn
