Re: Amniosentesis.....????From: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 29 Jun 2000 20:45:20 -0500 (CDT)
Thank you for responding, I didn't go into a lot of detail behind the reason for the amnio or how I came to see that particular gyn. that is going to be performing this procedure. My family doctor sent me to him because she was concerned about my titre count of "E". Just from the blood tests they don't show what affect they are having on the baby so they will test the amnio fluid to see what's going on in there. I don't know if it's just me but it seems lately that I have been running into a lot of doctors that I don't feel comfortable with, I trust them to do the best job that they can based on thier experience. I never asked questions at the gyn office yesterday and I really should have. I will be disscussing this with my family doctor before I go back for the amnio. I was asking here because I got such a quick response last time, and it stopped me from worrying so much. I also said BIG needle because any needle to me is to big! :) No body I know personally has been through any of this and I thought if I posted here someone would be able to relate a prior experience so that I would be less nervous. I am in Canada and I don't know if our doctors do the same things as in the U.S. And my health care is free so I feel like my doctors are so busy with everyone in this province that I just sit back and let things happen. The gyn did tell me that his wife is E positive and c positive as well, I think he was trying to reassure me that it is not rare and it isn't always a problem. They (my 2 doctors) just want to be sure my baby is okay. I have 9-10 weeks left with this pregnancy and I just want to make it through this with no problems. I will be back here after the amnio to ask some more questions Im sure, and just to relate my story and get it off my chest!!! Be back soon....
