Most likely it means that there is some placental tissue left inside the uterus which is still alive and producing HCG. We are talking about a piece so small that it would require a microscope to see it. It does not mean that your Doctor is not good. In fact he/she is probably pretty good for getting the test to make the diagnosis. The probable best treatment would be an injection of a medication called Methotrexate. This would be in a dose similar to that for an ectopic pregnancy. A repeat D & C is likely to miss it agagin.
